For posting a bikini pic? No. For being racist or homophobic, etc.? Yes.

i think it depends. if they're expressing hateful/bigoted views, yes. the employees make up the company. if it's just a night out or vacation, then no. there is a difference between living your private life and expressing opinions that do not ONLY affect people's perception of you, but also that of your employer.

I believe they should IF (AND ONLY IF) they themselves link their social media with their place of work. For example, if someone works for the state puts the department and what they do on their social media, and then go on a racist rant; then that is when they should be accountable for the representation of that entity. When people go above and beyond and find out where the person works and tries to make a post go viral to fire that person, then no that person should not be fired because they aren't representing their job. In the second scenario, the person would just be representing themselves when they rant

Yes. If I were a boss they’d be done. I know someone who has this nice, clean FB but his Twitter is down right awful. He literally makes fun of service members. On top of that, he’s a car salesman and this month they are donating $50 for every car bought to our local police dept (we live in a super small town and get very little funding) and he’s about defunding the police. Despite your feelings about that, the issue is, he went on Twitter and said he doesn’t want to sell any cars this month and he hopes no one goes to the dealership. It’s apparent his boss sees FB but not Twitter from how vastly different the two are. I’m a teacher and won’t post anything even remotely political on social media...it’s actually in my contract.
