I didn’t watch the whole thing, just skipped through it but what I did see was troubling and disgusting ... little girls twerking and dancing provocatively 🤢

I have the same reaction as everyone else, though I haven't seen it. It sounds disgusting. But honestly, there's no such thing as bad publicity. They're getting publicity because it's highly controversial. And Netflix doesn't care how evil that may be, the fact that it's getting talked about is what they like. It gets people to use their platform and watch their content. That's what they care about. Bad or good, it's getting talked about.

I keep seeing people call it a documentary which is weird because it’s definitely scripted like any other movie.
Definitely some inappropriate parts. Some of the things I heard were in the movie actually were not in it unless they were removed at some point? 
I also saw someone say that these girls were rewarded for the behavior, but they weren’t, at least not by adults. At the dance competition they were boo’ed, and the main characters mother would nearly beat her for it.
The movie really wasn’t good... just a handful of little girls thinking it’s cool to dance like they’re grown adults in a music video. 
I’ve actually recently seen a similar scenario. A friends 5 year old daughter was taught how to ‘twerk’ by her 10 year old cousin, and her cousin recorded her doing it. The 5 year olds father found the video and was pissed to say the least. So I guess it could be a real life problem, that some kids think it is the cool thing to do. When really it just opens the door for creeps.

We don't have Netflix right now and I haven't seen it but according to the director, it's supposed to disgust the audience and highlight how sexualized little girls are and how much society rewards little girls for it (with positive attention) instead of educating and redirecting them.
