Birth control? IUD?

Question

Hi ladies! My August baby girl has made our family complete, and I’m looking into birth control options. Do any of you have experience or feedback using IUDs? Specifically Mirena? My doctor recommended this but I’ve never had an IUD and would love to hear any personal stories.

I loved my IUD. It was uncomfortable getting it out it, but it was nothing compared to childbirth! I had it for years, and barely had a period (just some spotting each month). It was really nice to basically not have a period. When I got it taken out, I got pregnant about 2 weeks later. It was so fast that I almost didn't believe it. I loved it so much that I will be getting another one once I'm healed up a bit more and cleared by my doctor (she will check to make sure my cervix has shrunk back down at my 6 week appointment so I don't risk it falling out). I highly recommend it. Such peace of mind having it there, and so easy to get it out when I'm ready to have my next baby.

I loved mine. A bit uncomfortable to get inserted but had it for 5 years no problems then removed it when deciding we wanted a child. Got pregnant right away. No weight gain and didn't have periods on it. I recommend it.

I absolutely loved my Mirena. I didn’t have not one period whenever I had it (2 years, 6 months) got it taken out because my body needed a break from hormones and whenever I started trying for this little one, I got pregnant first cycle! It hurts getting put it and a little crappy afterwards but nothing medicine couldn’t fix. My sister has had her Mirena for 5 years and is getting hers taken out next month to give us all another baby😂 Can’t wait!

I just got Mirena put in on Thursday after baby #2 and didn’t feel a thing. I spotted that day and had some cramping but the next day it was all gone and I felt normal again. I made a post about getting an IUD and the feedback was all super positive which helped my decision.

I had my Mirena for 5 years and loved it, barely had a very light period for a day or two every 3-4 months. It is still hormones although it is local, but for me it was great. I took it out bc I read a lot of stories of how long it could take to try and conceive afterwards, and I got pregnant 5 months after. 
However, I have had friends that didn’t like it, and they had more hormonal side effects like weight gain and mood swings. But it is significantly less hormones than the pill so it really depends on what has worked for you thus far...
