Help! I don’t know what to do. I need an adultier adult. Lol. I recently had derogatory accounts reported to my credit report for the first time ever but I already paid the debts. They’re from when I had my daughter almost 3 years ago. The hospital never sent me a bill after having her for anything so I naively assumed I didn’t owe anything. About 6 months later I got a call from a debt collector and confirmed the debts with the hospital. I paid all debts and then confirmed with the hospital I didn’t owe them anything else. Then a few more months later I got another letter from a different debt collector with different debts. Once again confirmed them with the hospital and then paid them. I called a few times afterwards to make sure I didn’t owe them anything else. They said I didn’t. Then a year later I got another letter from a debt collector. I repeated the same process as before and paid everything off. I called the hospital every day for a week or so to confirm I didn’t owe any more debts. I repeatedly asked and made them all triple check. They insisted I owed them nothing. Then a few months ago I got a letter from another debt collector with debts I already paid. I called the hospital and they confirmed that I had paid and didn’t owe anything and it was just a mistake. They said they must have accidentally sent the debts I paid to them. 🙄 So I just forgot about it after that. Then a week ago the debt collectors reported the debts to my credit and seriously hurt my credit score. I’m so pissed and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. This has been a headache for years and I’m so fed up.
