One of "those" posts. Should I use this name or choose a different one?

Question

Here's the scoop:
I am 15 weeks prego with baby #2. We are not finding out the gender until birth so we have both a girl and boy name picked out. We are the type of people that keep the name top secret until baby is here.
I was hanging out with my friends a couple weeks ago and one of them announces what her future boy and girl names are. The girls name was the name we had picked as well 😳. (The name is Rory for anyone wondering).
I had no idea what to say since nobody knew I was pregnant yet. I just said "you have great taste!" 🤦🏼‍♀️. 
This is a friend I see too often to have a kid with the same name. However, she does not yet have kids and is not even trying yet. 
She could very likely change her mind by the time she has kids, but I don't want to be the jerk that "stole" her favorite name.  WHAT SHOULD I DO??
I keep hoping that I will find a new better name, but no luck yet 😞. 
I am worried about bringing this up to her before hand and causing drama/tension and then I would end up having a boy anyway.

You should talk to her and let how you feel during that conversation determine if you should use the name or not. To me personally, you can’t call dibs on a name so since she isn’t even pregnant she can’t really claim the name Rory. I do think you should tell her you plan to use the name though.

I would give her a heads up that one of her favorite names is the same as one of your top picks decided on x months ago. Let her know that you haven’t been sharing the names you’ve chosen with anyone, but that you wanted to let her know so it’s not a shock if you end up using it. 
But I’d also spend the next 25 weeks searching and being open to finding a name you love even more. 
That way you might find something better and the problem will go away. But if it doesn’t, you’ve already laid the groundwork for using Rory and this friend won’t be blindsided.
I wouldn’t worry too much though. Your taste or hers may change. You or her may only ever have boys. Or one of you might move far away. Lots of ways it could work out to avoid any problem at all.

This is exactly why we announce the name ASAP lol hopefully it will be a boy and then the problem is solved😬 because it would definitely come across as u having stole the name. But then again her children are hypothetical so use the name u want🤷‍♀️

I'd tell her that when she mentioned names the other day your heart flipped as that's the name you've decided on for your baby (if the gender fits). 
Just get it out there asap otherwise it'll look like you got the idea from her and that'd be shabby in my opinion.

Imo, you should have told her right then. At that point it wouldnt be stealing. Waiting weeks after she told you... Thats when its stealing. Or at least it will for sure feel like it and likely ruin a friendship. She told you and you later tell her youre using the name she told you weeks ago, it sounds like stealing.

This happened to my mom when she was pregnant with me. Her sister was due two months after her and said their girl name would be Jessica Leanne. My name is Jessica Leah (lee). She said she just kept quiet cause she was due first 😂 Nobody knew ahead of time what they were having so I think my Aunt was mad when I was born but she ended up having a boy anyway and it worked out.

No one owns the name, name your baby what you want too. If I liked a name and was set on calling my child that I wouldn’t even care of a family member had that name I’d still name my baby that name
