So my 17 month old still sleeps in our bed (no judgment please - we never planned to bed share). We tried moving him to his crib a few months ago, but he would wake up every 2-3 hours and needed to be comforted back to sleep. We spent 13 months with him doing this and had just gotten used to sleeping through the night, plus I was exhausted from first trimester, so we moved him back into our bed.

Now, he doesn’t want to cuddle or be close to us, he fusses and moves around a lot in his sleep, and he seems to want his own space. To anyone who’s bedshared with a toddler, did they ever show signs of being ready to transition to their own room on their own?

It seems like this may be him being ready for that transition FINALLY, but maybe I’m wrong. We plan to move him out once we get our Montessori floor bed which we’re hoping to do soon, but we’ll move him back to his crib now if he seems ready.
