VR Police Training
So this has been on the news recently and I thought I'd ask peoples opinions. Essentially they're using VR headsets and "tasers" instead of having a guy run at them in a big blue suit. So they have to make a judgement call on if they should use the taser, they have to watch what actually happens when a real person without protective gear is tased, and they also get judged on their empathy/ability to talk down the person in VR. My sister may be going through this training soon as she's recently took her exams and just needs the physical training now, so I've found it quite interesting.
I personally think this is a good thing, seeing how it actually affects someone may put them off using it unnecessarily. They use it A LOT right now and I think it's partially because they don't see how harmful it is in training. I'm hoping it makes better officers who are not so trigger happy, but the verdict is still out on how well it works.
If your country has mostly gun wielding officers I suppose the taser would be replaced with a gun.
