Afraid to go for Vbac now...how are you giving birth?

So with my first I had an emergency induction that resulted in a c section. It really wasn't that bad and baby was fine, I healed perfectly, it was all good. Im pregnant with number 2 and originally I wanted a vbac, maybe even a water birth all natural. But now for some reason I'm scared of everything that could go wrong. if I go through all the labor and end up in a c section anyways, or if forceps or vacuum have to be used. There's just so many things that could happen and I feel very overwhelmed.  My OB wants to talk to me about it soon so any insight would be appreciated.

Something I was told by my birth class instructor that calms my anxiety is this: “every birth is normal unless it becomes an emergency.. and the majority of births are not an emergency”. Anything could always happen with anything (car wrecks, choking {think about how often we eat 😳}), but that doesn’t mean it will. If you want to try for a water birth, go for it girl! Start preparing for a natural delivery now. Don’t let that anxiety rule you. If you want to have a cesarean, do it! But don’t do it out of fear. The US has a high cesarean rate compared to most countries and we still have one of the highest mortality rates for a developed country. I tried for a water birth with my second but he came too fast and the pool wasn’t filled. I think I’ll try again this time. I’ve been having random bouts of anxiety about birth and my baby in general this time too... but we can’t let it rule us or stop us from doing what we really want to do. Try for the labor and delivery you want! 
Btw: do some doctors really still use forceps?! 😳 those really are anxiety inducing. Let’s not think about it unless we have to.

My first was an all natural water birth. There's honestly nothing like it. My second was a c section after 12 hours of labor. Whatever you decide will be the right decision for you.
Thinking of having a VBAC with my third I'm having the same worries you are but knowing how natural birth is I want to at least try. I feel like my c section recovery was hard because I went through labor a pushing so I was very sore and exhausted. I too will be pretty upset if I go through labor and it ends in a c section but I'm praying it doesn't and it being my third I'm hoping the labor and delivery will be fast. With my second I was at 9cm within 6 hours of labor starting. His cord was wrapped around him like a backpack so he had no slack in his umbilical cord to descend. Hopefully this next baby will not wrap herself up and grace me with a short labor 🤞

I had a vbac well iv had 3 now! My first vbac ended up a vaccum delivery but he was huge 4.6kg and had passed meconium so they wanted him out quick.
Even though it was a vaccum delivery I'm sooo happy that I had the vbac.
Vbac is definitely the way to go. C section is major surgery and has many risks way more then a vbac.

Ok from outside perspective I attended my cousin’s first birth. Talked her through the entire pregnancy I was her support no matter what.
I arrived in the state she was living in a day prior to her going into labor. When she went into labor I talked her through it all even the nurses were please to have a bit of a break from the same speech because I have it to her. When the doctors needed to do something that she didn’t understand I talked to her so she got it. 
Every contraction she had the baby’s heart rate dropped because the cord was in front of her face and immediately I asked if she needed an emergency c section and they said yes. So I held her hand as they told her what would be happening and I answered the questions she had just to get better understanding. Talked her through the procedure as I was watching them cut and do what needed to be done to get baby out safely. Everything was great.
2 years later she was pregnant and ready to give birth again this time in a different state with outdated practices so they wanted to give her a c sections again just because she had one prior and the doctor never heard of VBAC (dead serious she said this) so after every appointment she called me and I talked her through her options. But I told her she was ideal for a VBAC simply because the doctor who did her original c section had already told her this after the last birth.
She was working and went into labor and gave birth in an ambulance vaginally. She was terrified but she remembered me coaching her through everything and she did what I had been telling her to do the last 9 months. Baby was perfect. Now she is having baby number 3 vaginally.
