Time off after baby

So I figured this might be the right place to ask...

Is it wrong for me to ask my husband to take a week off after the babies born? I’d like to have him home with me and the baby so he can spend some precious time with me and our new little one. My moms coming for the birth and staying 2 weeks. Should he request the week after she leaves off? My mil made me feel like it was the wrong decision because back when she had kids 25+ years ago husbands didn’t get “time off”.

Also, is it wrong for me to say I don’t want a baby shower at 35+ weeks? I told her I don’t want one later than 30-32 weeks. This is my first baby and I want to be as prepared as possible without waiting till the last minute to get stuff ready...
