Anyone genetic & chromosome testing?

I know this is a question to answer for myself, I was just wanting to know if anyone was doing it and didn’t mind sharing why or why not.

I’m doing the testing 
I don’t want to know the gender
But I do want to know if my baby has a disorder.
I know everyone has their own opinion but I don’t plan on keeping my baby if it was to have Down syndrome. 
I’ve been working with children for ten years and I’ve had children with Down syndrome and they are hard work and I just could not do it to myself.

Honestly i just do it to know the gender early. Chromosome abnormality or not baby is still going to be loved. However, if baby does have a chromosome or other abnormality it is nice to know ahead of time so you can do research and stuff

Also, I feel like everyone says “problem or not, the baby will be loved” ... until there is a major problem and you know your baby won’t survive. Getting as much health info as you can about your child is very smart. I had always thought that way too, until I was told my child had severe issues that would affect viability and quality of life.

I did the test I with my first and planning to do it again. Having peace of mind with my first that he had no abnormalities was very reassuring. Even if we found out something was wrong, I would want time to prepare, research, find specialists if needed, etc.

Im definitely getting the genetic screening done , for a few reasons... I'm 37 and that right there puts me in a higher risk category for abnormalities. I am a planner and don't particularly like these type of surprises.. I don't have plans to terminate if there is a issue but I need to know so I can research and learn about it so I'm prepared fully to handle the situation. 
On another note... If I found that I am carrying a infant with a disease guaranteed to be incompatible with life I would certainly become extremely informed on this particular issue and weigh my options to find the best choice to lessen the suffering on the baby. 
I also am extremely interested in finding out the gender!

We are doing it so we can be prepared. We would never terminate based on the results but could have a team of professionals in place at birth to help us.

Definitely do it. I found out that I’m a carrier for SMA which is a fatal disease. Thankfully my husbands results came in today and he’s not a carrier, but if he had been, this is something that would potentially effect every pregnancy we have (25% chance each time that the baby has it). We also did NIPT and it’s nice to know if things are ok.

Found out with first baby and finding out with this baby. One of the things they test for is a serious condition where most babies die within a week after being born. I can’t even imagine going through that after giving birth. It’s the “T” part of NIPT, for Trisomy 13, called Patau syndrome.

We are doing this, Had down with my two prior pregnancies as well. If my baby has a genetic abnormality I would really like to be able to prepare for it, which hospital to deliver at, find the best drs etc. if my baby has a genetic abnormality that is not compatible with life I am not sure what we’ll do. I feel sickened by the idea of aborting the baby, but going full term seems so painful.

I’m doing the NIPT if that’s what you’re referring to? 
Yes, I’m not sure what we’d do if the results came back positive for abnormalities.
