Orilissa or Lupron for PCOS and Endo?

Question

I have both PCOS and endometriosis and have been having horrible endometriosis symptoms lately. I haven’t had a period in 100 days but my body is continuing to try and cycle, which is contributing to the endo symptoms. My doctor suggests trying one of these meds. Has anyone taken either or both of these meds for PCOS and endometriosis?
I’ve never had a laparoscopy and I’m not trying to conceive, but I’d love to know any and all experiences. Thanks for your help!

Nooooooo to Lupron!! Do not do it! It messed up my cycle so bad and some other ladies I know of as well had horrible experiences TTC after!! My endometriosis is horrendous - I’ve had several surgeries, and the only thing that remotely helped was doing a laser lap, then immediately being on continuous birth control.

I just did the Lupron actually and after the initial few weeks after the first injection I had so much relief from my endo symptoms. It can be pricey but if you search for coupons you could end up getting it severely discounted. Mine was 1700 per injection and they wanted me to do 3. 1 every 4 weeks. With coupon I paid $75 per injection! My Dr wanted me to give it a try to get my body some relief prior to going into IVF. My biggest issue with the medication was the hot flashes... and being a nurse and having to wear all the protective with COVID right now was the worst! Anyways good luck and I hope you find some relief soon!

I've only done lupron and it wasn't so bad. It was expensive, however. Either way, neither can 100% suppress ovulation so if you are taking it, use protection as getting pregnant (even without trying) can have detrimental effects on a fetus. Both will have side effects but those dissipate after a few weeks. Do some research and then call your insurance to see whats covered to help make the decision. Both treat endo pain, and help quiet endo, but are different drugs. 
I had an "exploratory" laparoscopy and hysteroscopy to remedy the severity of PCOS (anovulatory and clomiphene and letrozole resistant). In that surgery they drilled my ovaries and diagnosed and excised the endometriosis that they could (left some on my bowel- endo was on the ovarian fossa and can recur), among other things. I honestly prefer the laparoscopy route but understand reservations in going that way. I felt so much better post surgery and my periods were more regular and bearable! If you're not TTC now, maybe try the drugs for a few months and see what those do. But id definitely recommend the surgery prior to TTC. Endo is also linked to progesterone resistance and you'll want your progesterone at an optimal level to support and sustain pregnancy. 
Its a big decision. Do some research and due diligence and go from there. Good luck!!
