Am I wrong for this?

My brother wants me to braid my nieces hair but I feel like all my brother does is take, take, take and never does anything for anyone else. Literally, I bought my niece a $40 dollar gift and he told her that he got it for her. All because he wanted to be the first to buy her that gift. Like clockwork, on my nieces birthday and Christmas I always send her a gift. My son is two and he has never gotten him anything. Not even a baby shower gift. Y’all, he didn’t even tell my mom happy birthday on her birthday... he lives with her rent free. I usually let these situations roll off my sleeve but today I feel like telling him no. The thing is, I love my niece to pieces and I don’t want her taking it personal, she’s 8. I just got out the military so this is my first time seeing her in a minute. Btw, he told her to ask me so I don’t know how to approach the situation without it seeming problematic. 
It kind of feels wrong because I’m being petty but at the same time I don’t want him thinking he could use me.

If you do it for him, you teach him to continue to use his daughter as manipulative ammo. You help them both by 
practicing the art of saying no. It doesn’t matter if your niece takes it wrong now. When she is older you can take her out and give her that good aunt experience so that she knows it’s directly from you. 
By saying yes you’d also teach her to start that habit. Help them both by putting your foot down and just let her know you love her it’s nothing personal

I understand where you’re coming from. My brother is the same way. However I would just do it. The only person who’s missing out is your niece and it’s not her fault her dad is crappy. So if it’s for her I would do anything. But not for him. Thats what I do with my nephew. They already go through enough having parents like that.

I’d do her hair for her but I wouldn’t do anything for him. And I’d also make sure she knows what you give her for her birthday or Christmas. Maybe you could call or FaceTime to say hey your gift should have arrived today. Did you get it? 
I have nieces and I do stuff for them but will not do anything for their parents. When I buy them a gift I make sure it stays at my parents house for them to use. My sister gets real upset when they tell her I’m the best 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would do it because it's not a monetary thing, no one can deny you did it, and it gives you time to bond with her and her time to bond with a good, responsible, honorable woman in her life.

I’d say maybe agree and pull him aside and confront him on his BS, tell him if all he’s going to do is take don’t ask you for anything.
