Given birth recently?

Has anyone given birth in the uk recently? I’m 38 weeks with our first and I’m sooooo sad my husband will have to leave the hospital after 4 hours of our baby girl being born. I’m so sad he’s going to miss her first moments. I just wanted us to be together with our baby girl😭 
I know it depends on your labour/delivery/recovery etc, but how long were you kept in hospital after giving birth recently?

🙋‍♀️ I was in overnight but that was more my choice. I gave birth at 4.30am and got the impression I could have been home for lunch if I wanted to, however it was my 2nd live birth so not sure they would have let me leave so early if it was my first.
I get that you are sad your partner will not be there after the 4 hrs, but don't rush home because of that if you wouldn't otherwise. Especially if you are planning to breastfeed, as the support they can give you on the postnatal ward can be really helpful. Make sure you are confident with the feeding before you leave 😊

My first I gave birth 9pm was allowed home in the morning. Second I gave birth at 8pm and had to stay in 3 days because they didnt know the radiator was broke in my room and they thought he had a low temp so was under a lamp🤦‍♀️. 
However, with covid atm, partners can stay 6 hours after birth. And come and go as they please between 10am and 10pm at my hospital now, so I'm hoping to give birth at like 4am or later so when the 6 hours are up he can just stay as will be in the 10-10window 😂. I'm getting induced enxt week x

Had baby in May (baby 2) rule at our hospital was 2 hrs for dads after birth, we were really lucky in that delivery suite was quiet that night and we had a straight forward delivery so they were happy for us to go 4 hrs after birth. It was a little longer than that as I had some bloods which took some time to come back but he was born at 7:10pm and we left just after midnight, we stayed in delivery room all that time with my husband too. X

I gave birth 4wks ago, in London. Husband was allowed to stay once my waters broke (pretty much as soon as we arrived, since I’d had a Cooks balloon induction) and had to leave - after baby was born - at the end of visiting hours. 
Baby and I stayed overnight because we needed extra monitoring due to blood loss, GBS+ antibiotics, etc. My husband stayed until 9pm and was back at 8am the next morning. I missed him terribly, but was on the phone to him and the night shift midwives were great. If I’d been able to sleep, everything would’ve been much better 🤷‍♀️ It was good, in the end, that he got one last solid night’s sleep — someone had to be well rested for bringing baby home!

My husband could stay the whole time until we left. We weren't moved to a ward as there was no one needing our room. It was about 11 hours after baby was born.

I had my son at 15:15 and we were all back home for 9pm. If possible they want you in and out. 6 hours after birth is when they have their checks and you’re allowed home

I got induced and my partner wasn’t allowed in whist I was being induced or for the 12 hrs after but when I went to labour ward he was allowed in all the time but had to wear a mask, I ended up with an emergency c-section and he was allowed in for that but when I was taken up to the ward he had to leave a couple hours later as visiting times were until 5pm and he wasn’t allowed back until 1pm the next day but I was able to go home then, it all depends on the rules of the hospital some are a bit more lenient than others

I had elective c-section my husband stayed for two hours I think until I got moved to postnatal ward then he wasn't allowed back up until following day. I live in N.Ireland and at that stage partners were allowed to visit for 1hour a day due to restrictions so my husband can back following day for 1hour and then I thankfully got home that day so was only in hospital for one day. Due to restrictions in N.Ireland now you aren't allowed any visitors.

I gave birth at 13:47 on 9/9/20 and my husband stayed with me till 17:00 when I returned back to the ward. I stayed in hospital overnight and as soon as they did the 24 hour checks on my little boy I was allowed home. I left hospital at 20:30 on 10/9/20 x
