Relationships with someone in prison...

After having a conversation with a friend yesterday, she broke things off with her husband. Without getting into detail, her husband has been in prison for a number of years (like 4-5 years so far) and still has about 3 more years left. Their marriage was understandably damaged because of the situation and she was lonely, and she couldn’t lie to herself and her husband anymore. She had to officially ask for a divorce.

Question: If your spouse (or significant other) was in prison, would you still be with them? How long would you willingly wait for them? What type of crime would they had to have committed to be the limit for you?

As a bonus question, if you were the person in prison, would you expect your spouse to wait for you? Would you want them to still have unconditional love for you, “for better or for worse”? Or would you allow them to see other people if your sentence was many years?
