Bloodwork on day 3 of period ?

Has anyone had this done? 
Been trying ttc for a good year this cycle my doctor wanted labs done on day 3 of my period ( which is today) what for? What are they checking for

Usually looking at your estrogen and progesterone but can add other hormone levels too. I’ve had this done many cycles on day 3-4 with my RE. Gives them a baseline for you with your follicular phase

It’s normal to check your hormones on cycle day 3 and cycle day 20. Compares hormones in follicular phase before ovulation and then compares luteal hormones after ovulation
