Does anyone not use OPKs?

Question

My friend's gyno told her not to use OPKs when TTC and I'm not sure why. Ive been using them since we started TTC (for 4 months) and really like using them because it's the way I know ovulation is coming. I also use BBT and CM but ovulation tests are my favorite way.
 Has anyone heard their dr say not to use them? I would love to hear thoughts on this! Thanks so much!! ✨❤

Some people might think it induces more stress. That’s the only reason I can see why they said not to.

My doc saw that the cheap LH strips were adding undue stress for me, so told me if I wanted to OPK to spring for the ClearBlue digital (which I’ve been doing for 3 months now and for some reason like so much better). Also told me to not bother with temping- I think she could just see how upset I was and was trying to remove some of it.

I personally found that it was far too stressful. I have learned to be kore mindful of my CM which works just as great minus the stress.

I've only gotten pregnant when I've stopped using them. Probably adds more stress? Also have had issues with PCOS.

They won’t work with some women that have PCOS because their LH levels are already elevated leading to multiple false positives. Also, if they have long cycles it would mean peeing on a lot of sticks which can be pricey.

Me coz i have regular period and got preg without using it... you know healthy egg cell starts always in our brain hypothalamus dont give it more stress..

My doctor actually told me to stop using Opk's also. I used them for about 5 months and he said since I know that ovulation and period are like clockwork for me, then there's no need to use them because it adds unnecessary stress. They're more helpful to women who have irregular periods.

I had an OB tell me not to BBT and use OPKs. Mostly because OPKs tell you before ovulation and BBT tells you after ovulation. The only reason I can think of not using OPKs is because they measure LH and not actual ovulation. LH can be an indication of ovulation but doesnt mean ovulation actually happens. But I liked OPKs much better than other methods and they never stressed me out.

I’ve been ttc for 6 months and don’t use them. Not bc anyone suggested not to. I’ve never heard to not do use medically either. I know I probably should and have actually started to order some on amazon a couple times lately lol I’ve been using just CM and the app. It predicts my period spot on so I was hoping with that and the CM I’ve been close. But here we are in month 6. Sooo, maybe I should order some and try it.

There’s really no reason not to as long as you know what they mean (and- what they don’t mean). They are a tool which has limits.
