iPad ruining my sons life

My son is 8 and addicted to his iPad. We allow him 2 days per week on it, but during those days he freaks out if his iPad time is interrupted such as when we need to go do something or he needs to eat a meal etc. His freak outs usually end up with his dad taking away his iPad time for the rest of the day. Well today he had a huge freak out, he started breaking things and stomping and getting extremely angry so his dad told him no iPad tomorrow either. When I put my son to bed tonight he said he hated his life and he hated his dad and that he’s never happy anymore because he can’t play the iPad all the time. It broke my heart but this is all because of the stupid iPad and it’s ridiculous that a stupid electronic can be so addictive to a child. I don’t know what to do😔
