Boyfriends Dick Size

Sooo my bf and I have been together for a while but I feel this he is insecure about his penis size ( he’s about 6 inches). Often times when we are together he talks about having a massive dick even though he has an regular size penis. I assume he is trying to build confidence. For example last night my friend asked a group of us if any of us wanted any average size condoms because they were too small for this guy she’s having sex with. No one wanted them so I said I would take them. When I told my bf he was offended because he felt it implied that he has an average size dick. I felt bad about saying this but I ended up telling him that he’s not big... I think he is girthy but the thought that he has like a 9 inch penis is simply not true. When I thought about it I guess I could see where he was coming from but idk how to approach the situation. I didn’t meant to offend or hurts him I was just being truthful.
