Second or more time moms: did you get an epidural with your second+ if you got one with your first?

I’m pregnant with my second son and I had an epidural with my first. This will be my last baby so I want to experience “natural” birth but I’m so scared. With my first it hurt to push so much even with an epidural and my contractions before I got it was coming every few seconds. But my epidural also gave me horrible anxiety because it scared me to not being able to move.

Didn't get the epidural in time with my first, and I knew I wanted it early with my second. Got it and had an amazing and super easy recovery! No tearing and no pain afterbirth whatsoever (which is crazy and probably uncommon)!! I am due in November and will 100% be getting one again!

I WANTED one with my second but the stupid ass doctor didn't believe I was in labor and the baby came two and a half hours later. 🤷‍♀️ 
Looking back, physically, the recovery without the epidural was easier physically. Emotionally because it was such a shocking experience and he was so rude and unprofessional I struggled. I think if I prepared mentally, I could do it again without an epidural.

I got an epidural with my first and will definitely do it this time around. It made my experience much more enjoyable. I have no desire to go all natural. However, I was still able to move my legs a bit after my epidural and it wore off halfway through pushing (pushed for 3 1/2 hours).

I got the epidural with my first after 24+ hours of labor. I was in labor for a total of 36 hours so my plan for baby #2 is no epidural unless I go over the 24 hour mark again. After 24 hours my body was just too tired to do anything and I needed rest!

Nope! I got an epidural with my first because I was scared of contractions. Every mom I knew scared the crap out of me and I was young at the time, 19 years old, so I did what everyone else told me to do, which was get an epidural. The recovery time was long and I couldn’t even go to the bathroom by myself. I was also in the hospital much longer. With my second I had an all natural birth, although that wasn’t my plan. I held out as long as I could and right before I was about to get the epidural, signed the papers and all, I felt like I had to push and she came out within seconds. The recovery time was instantaneous. I was walking around within seconds of giving birth, I could go to the bathroom on my own and I only had to stay in the hospital for one day. I will be going all natural again with this baby and this time it’s actually planned that way. 💛🌸
