Is She Behind?

Question

Just a silly question. I'm a first time mom and I was wondering if my baby should be holding and playing with toys by now or not? She will hold it for a few seconds if you put it in her hand but she drops it and has no interest. Even when we use the activity gym she has little interest in the dangling toys. She doesn't really even bat at them. Also she hasn't laughed yet. Is this normal and when do they start to laugh and play with things??

I think it’s pretty normal, like someone else said, kids develop at their own pace. I’m a ftm too so I understand the worry! Just keep showing her the toys and how they work and eventually she should catch on!

My baby wouldn’t acknowledge toys until about 5 months. I would hold them in front of her face and she wouldn’t even look at them let alone hold or interact. Now she holds and plays with them (7.5 months now).

I wouldnt be concerned about the laughing as long as there is some form of emotion like a smile. TBH tho she does sound behind with the toys. I would bring it up at your next pediatrician appt. 
I would also reccomended getting the cdc milestone app it tells you what milestones should be reached by what age. Babysparks is great for that too and gives activty ideas to help with those sorts of things.
