Sex before marriage, but no more?

My SO and I have been sexually active for 4 years, have lived together for 3 years, have a child, but are not married

He has been a Christian our entire relationship, however I only recently found God.

After delving into the Bible, I’ve decided I want to hold off on further sexual relations until we are married. He seems okay with the idea, but I don’t know if he’s taking me seriously or not.

I’m posting here basically to ask if anyone else has been in my shoes (or close) and am asking for guidance on how to resist temptation and seeing what issues your relationship may have had during the transition, from sex to no sex.
