Home schooling

This isn't corona related, I always wondered about teaching our kid myself because I agree with one-on-one teaching and seeing my stepkids struggle because they don't receive the required attention on certain subjects they struggle with and the teachers dwell too long on subjects they are quick with because they're in a classgroup.. Also when I see my 8yo stepson come home having hours of repeating to do plus assignments.. It's just too much really.

We would stick to our daily routine (no homework) and encourage social activities outside of teaching time

So I'm asking those who homeschool their kids:

What made you decide to homeschool? and what does your daily/weekly schedule look like?

I'm in western Europe though and homeschooling isn't done often because schooling is very affordable and pretty decent, so I'm asking here, but sending me different programs wouldn't be much help I think.
