Eating disorder trigger warning!!! Is it normal for my mouth to feel sore after purging?

I purged for the first time in years the other day but now it’s been about 3 days and the back of my mouth is sore and I almost feel pukey all the time. Is this normal?

If you consistently purged in the past, then you likely have damage to your esophagus. That’s likely why you’re having pain after purging again.

To answer your question...yes. This is normal. 
You are forcing yourself to throw up the contents of your stomach. Inside the cavity is acid. The acid is so strong it could dissolve paint on contact. You are burning the membranes of your delicate esophagus and dissolving your teeth. 
Please stop doing this and get help. You may think you are doing yourself a favor by doing this to stay thin but you wont like what you see when you end up with a cardiac issue, permanent NG tube and rotted out teeth. This happens...often....and it's not the least bit pretty.

Purging will ruin your gums and teeth so that could be why but it’s definitely a concern. Have you been to a dentist recently? It’s worth it to check it out.
