Bad idea to adopt cat and tell parents I randomly found it?

Ok so I moved back home after college and already have 2 cats that are 4. Couple months ago one of my cats had worms and the discussion was if needed to we could get another cat. I think they would be reluctant to me adopting another one just cause but will come around. So if I adopt a cat from the shelter and tell my mom I found it randomly at a plaza or something she’ll most likely be understanding. Idk if it’s a bad idea to do that or if I should do it

Yes bad idea, don't adopt animals unless you have a stable environment for them, it doesn't sound like you do & it would be very irresponsible.

Don’t lie because you don’t want to have to bring the cat back to where you adopted from if your parents say no. That’s traumatizing for the cat, and very irresponsible on your part. Have a discussion with your parents if you want another one.

You’re in college but can hold an honest conversation with your parents? Are they going to be the ones taking care of it when you’re away? If you want one ask, if they say no it’s their house. Don’t lie about finding one that’s disrespectful no matter how “good” your intentions are.

What is in the water that every single day I read multiple posts about people wanting to deceive and lie about things to the people they supposedly love?
What are you going to do if the new cat doesn't like the others- you can't take it to another shelter as that would violate the contract you would sign with the shelter you adopt from. You can't take it back to that shelter without your parents finding out. What if they post on Facebook or something thanking you for adopting (the shelters in my country do that), someone might find out then and tell your parents.
If you want the responsibility of a third cat, start off on the right foot and act like an adult about it.
