My successful VBAC story !! 💙💙
I had an emergency c section with my first due to cord prolapse. Terrifying. But this is my successful VBAC story ☺️☺️ it’s abit long 😂😂💙💙
I had a Stretch and sweep on the 15th September, I was 38 weeks 5 days and suffering from SPD. The sweep went well. I found out I was 2cm dilated and my cervix was soft. She told me to go home and tell my partner that we would be meeting our boy soon. I text him as soon as I left, Went home, my partner got really excited and had the hospital bags out ready when I got in💕
I had some contractions that night. Irregular but uncomfortable. Fully expected to go into labour that night but no such luck, the next day
(16th) early morning 6:00ish I had my bloody show and loads of mucus!! We again got very excited. I started getting irregular contractions and they didn’t let up all day!! Or the next day... or the next day... 😂😂
On the 20th (3 days of contractions!!) I was so fed up, I woke up at 7:30am and even though I was fed up and thought nothing was ever going to happen, I continued to track my contractions, they seemed to have increased quite a lot in intensity and I was feeling them in my lower stomach as well as my back.. they actually hurt abit and took my breath away and from the minute I woke up they were 6 minutes apart. I called the hospital and they told me to come and have a check as I also thought I had leaking waters.
We called my partners mum to get childcare for our daughter just incase it was go time... we sat with her and had a coffee (I had a hot chocolate 😂). I wasn’t in pain just abit uncomfortable and thought I would be wasting the hospitals time by going in. My partner and his mum kept saying I was in labour but the pain didn’t feel bad enough 😂
We got to the hospital at 12:15am. My partner waited outside in the waiting room and I went in to be checked. Sat in a room for a little while and then the lady came in to check me. She checked my waters and told me they hadn’t broken. I lost hope.. felt fed up. she examined me and then she said I was 5cm dilated!! And said I could call my partner in and get into comfy clothes!!!
My gorgeous partner came in very excited ☺️ the contractions really started to pick up and I let it be known early on that I had to have an epidural🙈 my man helped me change into a hospital gown and then they put me on gas and air at 1:50pm. I didn’t make a noise and was laughing and chatting in between contractions.
The nurse told me that the epidural dude was on his way but would be about an hour. I continued on the gas and air. The contractions were getting soo close together and I was beginning to worry that I wouldn’t get my epidural 😬 my partner was amazing!!! Passing me my water between each contraction and making sure my lips weren’t to dry. 🥰
At about 5:15pm the epidural man came in!! Yay!! My contractions were about a minute to 30 seconds apart at this point. The midwife and my partner helped me get into the position to have my epidural. I sat on the edge of the bed with my forehead against my partners. He had to hold the monitor on my tummy as-well so we could hear little mans heartbeat as with my first labour my daughters heart kept stopping when I contracted so I had to be closely monitored. My partner was just amazing ☺️💕
The epidural was uncomfortable but not painful, although he did say he kept “hitting bone” 😑 it was all done and put in by 5:30pm.
They told me they had to wait an hour just to make sure it all kicked in. My contractions were now 30 seconds apart, but were easing off a little as the epidural started to kick in. I was still so calm and didn’t feel like I was about to have a baby 😂 it didn’t feel like I was in enough pain 😂
The midwife checked me for the second time straight after my epidural was in and said I was ready!! 10cm dilated and had only just had my epidural in !! 😱
They told me to try not to push until the hour was up. The hour went quite quickly and my legs began to numb (although not as much as I thought they would.) I could still move them fine.
Just before the hour was up I started to feel pressure. It was uncomfortable as I knew I couldn’t push. When the hour was up it began! I could push. My man told me he wanted to watch, he had been so against the idea of watching and so had I, when we had spoken about it during my pregnancy I told him I didn’t want him to look at all and we decided against it. But suddenly he really wanted to watch and I really wanted him to aswell ☺️
The midwives were amazing and guided me through.
It was roughly 6:40pm when I started to push, no pain what so ever just immense pressure.
Our beautiful little man was born at 6:59pm on the 20th of September ☺️ my partner said it was amazing and was stroking our boys head before he was even completely out of me 😂☺️ our boy was put straight on my chest and I got to breast feed him :) my gorgeous fiancé cut the cord. It was all just amazing!! And quite easy!! The placenta didn’t want to come out and it took an hour of me trying until the doctor came in and had to help me. He pushed on my tummy and told me to keep coughing. It wasn’t nice 😂.. but out it came! I had a second degree tear internally and a graze, two stitches. After I was stitched up I was sat on the bed and was suddenly quite violently sick! Didn’t last long though and then I was fine 😂
After such a traumatic birth with my daughter I couldn’t have asked for a better birth with my little man!!! My partner got to be there with me this time and we were a great team! He was my rock, and it was a beautiful thing we got to share together ☺️💕 it was perfection!!! I adore my family of six 💙💙💗💗🐱🐱
