I was having a really really hard day and it was reflecting in practice so my coach called me out to talk to me. He is generally a pretty mean guy, so I was worried that he was just gonna put me in an even worse mood, but he was being super super empathetic and nice. Like way too nice. He asked me what was going on and I said that there was just a lot going on at home, and he said that because I was at practice I should keep practicing but he said he wanted to take me to lunch so we could “get to know each other better”

And I’ve gone to lunch/brunch/dinner that kinda thing with coaches before purely to talk about the game, but the way he asked me kind of put me off.

I said I would go because I didn’t feel like I had any other choice, but does this sound weird to you or am I just overthinking it?
