I’m about to put together my dad bag and I need to know what you all think I might/might not need.

You are most likely not going to need a robe. Nurses will be in and out of the room often, so you may not even get a chance to change. Just crash on whatever couch they give you. 
But bring snacks. Hospital dining hall isn't always open and you will want quick foods.
