Feeding a 1 year old

My daughter was born a month early and had a tongue and lip tie which effected her ability to nurse. I’ve been exclusively pumping the entire time.

She finally had the ties revised at 7 months. At 6 months when I started solids she would gag with every bite. Tried purées and finger foods.

Now she hates purées and wants finger foods but she is still gagging a lot and the other thing she does is she keeps the bites of food in her mouth. She’s not swallowing very often to get them down. I try to have her drink water after each bite which helps a little but hours later I’m still seeing food in her mouth.

Anyone experience this? Any tips ?
