When should I go to the hospital for HG?

What happens at the hospital for HG and how long did you stay?

Was it helpful after treatment at hospital?

How do you continue care from home?

Its best to go when you cant keep food or liquid down. Your pee is yellow/brown from Dehydration.Sometimes your clinic or doctor office can give you fluids. If they are open I would call them before going to hospital. If its after hours and you cant wait I understand. I had to make a few ER trips from Dehydration... the hospital or clinic will give u fluids and nausea meds thru IV. Also, ask your doctor about meds you can take at home to help with nausea and throwing up. Best of luck!

I keep trying to tell them that the pills aren’t working cuz I can’t keep it down. I’m losing weight fast almost 2 pounds a day and they hardly listen

The fluids with the nausea meds in iv did help immediately. But its best to get something subscribed for at home once it wears off.

Did it help you feel better almost immediately?

I was stubborn (stupid of me but anywho) I only went to the ED twice and that was when I started having a funny heart rhythm.

I had Hg with my second. I was always told to go to the ER if I couldn’t hold anything down for 24 hours. Witch happened frequently. I ended up being prescribed diclegous. (I don’t think I spelled that right) I took two pills once a day. For the most part it helped. I was still throwing up multiple times a day, but was able to keep some stuff down. Drinking really really cold water can sometimes help. Try to stay as hydrated as possible.

I’m on Diclegis for my HG and I take 3 pills each day, 1 in the AM & 2 in the PM. My OB said to go to the ER if I am ever unable to keep liquids or food down to get fluids and anti-sickness through the IV. I went from vomiting up literally everything, all day to only 1 - few times a day. My worst day was vomiting over 17 times within 24 hours ☹️ I was miserable and so weak. Maybe mention that medication to your OB to see if it will help you if you haven’t tried it already. I’ve been on it since 6 weeks and I’m 15 weeks tomorrow.
