Labour story - induction & overdue
So Sunday 6th September I was set to be induced. I went to the hospital and ended up staying in overnight, Monday morning I had a foley balloon inserted to try and help me dilate as I was stuck at 1cm. I went home and immediately began contracting, the balloon stayed in for 24 hours and so I had to go back to the hospital Tuesday morning for the balloon drained and removed. I was re-examined and was at 2/3cm, they sent me home and told me I would get called as soon as there is a bed available in delivery suite so I could have my waters broke and go into labour. That day I spent at home relaxing in the bath and just trying to keep busy waiting for a phonecall. I went to bed around 10 feeling fine. Wednesday 9th September I turned 42 weeks 🖤
Neil comes to bed around 00:50 and I get up to go to the toilet. I start having contractions immediately, they took my breath away and wrapped from bottom of my back to under my bump. I began timing but they were only 11 mins apart. Fast forward an hour I was contracting every 2/3 mins and I was in agony, so I went to the hospital. Arrived at delivery suite and was told I was 4cm and in labour. Neil was able to join me from this point. Lots happened in the next few hours but I had gas & air, morphine and then an epidural. I also had drugs to help slow my body contracting as it was contracting too fast and his heartbeat was dropping when I was pushing. I ended up having an instrumental birth (ventouse) and an episiotomy. Turns out our little boy had to be pulled out into the world quickly as the cord was wrapped around his neck. He was born at 13:48 Wednesday 9th September 🧡
I have a story time on my YouTube channel, but here is the basics of how Oscar entered the world 💙
