Herpes & babies

I was diagnosed with genital herpes about a year ago. Since then me and my partner have been very careful to use condoms and to not do anything during an outbreak but we’d like to start trying for a baby. What are the chances of passing herpes to your partner when you’re not having an outbreak? And is it safe to have a baby?
