Successful Induction

Hi all...here’s my birth story:

So a few weeks ago the doctor told me that my baby was measuring big and recommended induction the following Friday. We negotiated waiting until my due date as I felt the baby wasn’t ready to be born a week early and felt it would have resulted in a c section.

So I was brought in on Tuesday night 9pm so receive my first round of gel...the midwife examined me and felt I was dilated enough to have my waters broken and was lightly contracting. So she did not administer the gel.

The following morning I attend the induction ward who examine me and say in fact I was not dilated enough and definitely would require the gels. I was very upset feeling I wasted a whole night in the hospital staying another night away from my son!

So I received 2 rounds of gel 6 hours apart and was getting regular strongish contractions. The midwife was able to break my waters at this stage and immediately contractions intensity increased 10 fold. Midwife told me to contact my husband and tell him to come up straight away. The midwife brought me straight to the labour ward, I had requested the epidural so the doctor was waiting there for me, although I was advised that it may not have enough time to work...I was refusing to push while epidural had taken effect. My husband arrived and as the epidural began to work I began to push, so I pushed for about 15/20 mins. And my lovely baby girl was born weighing 9lb!!!

So while I really hadn’t wanted to be induced, it all went very quick in the end. I avoided a section, daddy made it, the epidural was nearly working, and I got my beautiful baby girl 💓💓💓💓
