Apgar scores and other questions!

Leandra

So I’ve been doing research on what happens immediately after a baby is born and there are quite a bit procedures. So here are my questions for everyone with this experience...

1. Can the APGAR test be done while baby is in my arms?

2. Can I hold off on weighing and measuring my baby for awhile?

3. Is vitamin K shot necessary?

I’ve been hearing a lot about the “3 golden hours” after a baby is born and read they are pretty crucial for mother and baby to bond. The skin to skin contact help regulate baby’s and mother vitals; also allowing time for natural seeking of the nipple for breastfeeding instead of the usual forced latch. I want to avoid and interruptions during this crucial time and was wondering if it can be delayed a bit? Obviously I know if they or I need immediate medical care this isn’t possible, but I’ve read if their APGAR score is 7 or above the “routine procedures” can be delayed. So all thoughts, recommendations, and advice is welcomed! Thank you ladies!!! 💕💕💕
