Me and my husband have always taken it in turns to visit each side of our perspective families on Christmas Day. They live 100 ish miles in different directions so we end up staying for 2-3 nights with either of them each year. Since DD came last year we decided to stay at home - we had too many presents to carry as well as travelling crazy distances with a baby. They both ended up staying with us for 2 lots of 2/3 night back to back stays last Christmas. Hosting for almost a week was exhausting. We’d also spent around £500 on food for everyone. It was difficult to enjoy our first Christmas as a family. My husband is refusing to travel this year and for any future years, so it looks like we’ll be at home - which I honestly don’t mind - it’s just the daunting prospect of hosting both sets of families again.

Just wondering if anyone can think of a solution that doesn’t involve offending anyone? Making them get a hotel would definitely cause offence....
