Face masks just don't fit me? Am I alone in this?

Anna

Hey everybody, I live in a country where face masks in public aren't mandatory, but they might be soon. I am a teacher and soon I may need to wear one whilst teaching.

I have tried 4 different face masks. The standard disposable ones, a premade cloth mask with a piece of metal in the nose, another premade cloth one without any shape to it whatsoever, and one I made myself to fit my face as much as possible.

Now, I don't know if my face is just a really abnormal shape, whether my nose is too high or my ears are too high, or maybe I just have a small face.

I always run into at least one or several of these problems when wearing one:

- it shifts in front of my eyes as soon as I move my jaw

- it slips off my nose as soon as I move my jaw

- the chin part presses on my throat

- my glasses fog

- it's too loose and air escapes from all sides

- it's too tight and hurts around my cheeks and chin/throat

Am I alone in this?! I don't hear anyone talk about these struggles. People just say: "It is what it is, no one likes it, just shut up and wear one." But I honestly just don't know what I'm going to do when I have to teach with one, considering the things above. You shouldn't touch it, but I constantly need to adjust it.

Any tips or ideas or just a "you're not alone"? I feel like such an awful person "complaining" about this but it honestly bothers me.

P.s. It might also be made worse by my anxiety. I associate (the feeling) of a lack of air or things pressing on my throat with anxiety, so I'm extremely aware of wearing a mask because it triggers my anxiety, so maybe that's why these things bother me more than they would bother the average person
