When to buy first shoes?

Question

My son is still wearing pram shoes as he’s only just started walking (he still crawls but walks a lot too now). I know it’s best not to put them in proper shoes right away and you should ideally wait 4-6 weeks. 
My question is, should I wait 4-6 weeks after he’s fully walking and no longer crawling or 4 weeks from now when I’m sure he’ll be confidently walking?

I have never heard of having to wait. I live in Canada my little one wears boots when we go to the park as it’s like 5 degrees today she has to wear them 🤷‍♀️ she just started walking to.

We didn’t really measure it out when she started walking we didn’t really go anywhere so I’d practice with whatever baby shoes we had like 30 mins a day. Once she was more confident walking we got her real shoes for when we went for a ride or out for a walk now that’s all she wears. We go to a state park by us every weekend and I noticed her wanting to walk there so she needed real shoes with all the mud and rocks. She did good but she won’t keep Velcro on so I had to get ties and I wouldn’t recommend high top chucks I have the hardest time putting them on her.
