Friend texts me every single day - how to stop it?

So I have a friend I met just before I gave birth to my son. Our boys ended up being born very close together. Since their birth, she has messaged me every single day. I have never texted anyone so often in my life and I find it exhausting. How do i get her to stop?
I have tried multiple times having ‘time off texting’ which i have told her. So I’ve had a couple of weeks off here and there. But when i eventually message her again she will reply really quickly each time, asking lots of questions so even if i leave my reply for a day or so, i feel this constant guilt like it’s something on my to-do list that i will always have to get around to doing. 
I find it exhausting and unnecessary. It’s all just general stuff like explaining every single thing that happened that day. I don’t have time for it anymore. This has gone on for almost 18 months now.
The thing is, i want to remain friends with her. But even if i messaged her to ‘check in’ her texts always have questions and more questions so they never actually end! I even try and end them by not asking questions and saying hope you have  nice day etc but she always find something to say. 
How can i nicely put these constant messages to an end?

I found that was my main problem with trying to have friends... The daily communication. Luckily the few I have are like me and only text a few times a month.
Don't feel guilty for not replying... If it's not in your nature to not text every day don't force it. She should also come to the party a bit and give you some free time.
I'd send her a nice message and tell her you value your friendship very much, but you normally don't text so much with people so you hope she's not offended if you don't talk daily. And then just leave it at that- if she decided to test regardless of that then that's on her.

People are encouraged, when they get answered soon.
I did actually turn off audible notifications on my phone. Told that to everyone who wanted to know, and I don't check my phone that often, so my answers are not coming right away. That helps a lot with people who talk a lot and also helps to control my phone usage....

I’m quite lucky that with my closest friends, I might not see them, or speak to them, for a while but when we do- we pick up right where we left off. And it can be days, weeks or months without seeing each other (especially at the moment, I’ve seen one of them only twice this year because of the pandemic, but nothings changed!)  
And that is the best type of friendship for me. 
I think you just have to try and text back or speak to her when it’s convenient for you and not feel that pressure to constantly reply. You should be able to be honest with your friends, so I think you should be able to politely say that you’re sorry that you don’t always have time to reply straight away with a lot going on raising a young child. That you’d like to be friends but it’s hard to keep up sometimes! And you’re the sort of person that needs space and you’re struggling to find it...

I’d tell her I’d need space and to leave me alone. But if I can’t be honest to my friend then they can’t be my friend.
