protection

so i’m on the IUD and taking the pill (as prescribed). my boyfriend and i were both virgin with no sexual experience of any kind before we met. we started having sex a few months ago but it was without condom because neither of us could finish with one on. my obgyn always tells me to wear one to prevent sti/stds, but i’m confused to why if he’s my first and i’m his first and we don’t have any other partner. can someone help me understand why? please be nice. they don’t teach this stuff in school
