Nexplanon or IUD?

My only experience with birth control would include Depo and condoms. I’m not interested in the pill because there’s no way I would be consistent with it￼. I need something with the least amount of side effects, especially mood swings & decreased libido.

So I’ve had the copper IUD since February. Overall, I’d say my experience has been positive. I wanted BC that did not include any hormones and would be “get it and forget it.”
The process of getting it inserted was v quick, the appointment (from the time I met the provider-when I checked out) lasted no more than 15 mins. 
I experienced mild cramping few hours later, but nothing unbearable. I will say the first period I had following my IUD insertion was THE most painful period I’ve ever had. I usually don’t cramp up. From that point to now, I’ll get cramps here and then—some mild and some sharp. I’d recommend it if you’re considering it!

I had the arm rod and it was the worst decision of my life. Had it in for 3 years, got it removed in 2018 and I’m still waiting for my periods to regulate. I’m not the only one, thousands of women struggle to regulate after coming off the rod.  Definitely do not recommend.
