Does your Husband/Boyfriend travel for work?

How many have SO's that travel out of town for weeks/months at a time? Do you have kids? How do you handle it? Is there any trust issues?

Before the pandemic, both my partner and I traveled for work. There are not trust issues because we communicate openly, honestly, and frequently. We talk about the boundaries of our relationship and we negotiate them as needed.

My fiance travels out of the country for weeks at a time. No trust issues. Just miss him when he’s gone! We don’t have any children and don’t plan on having children.

He used to for the marines, though thankfully he was in the reserves portion of his contract when we got together so he’d only be gone a weekend to two weeks at a time. Shortly after we started dating we did talk about it as he was looking into a year long overseas contract. I’ve never been interested in a long distance relationship, as I want someone to do life with, not be apart from most of the time. I encouraged him to do it if that’s what he wanted, bc it’s a life experience I didn’t want him to miss out on and it sounded cool, but personally I didn’t want long distance. I’ve ended relationships or not started them before for the same reasons - it’s never been something I wanted. He ended up deciding against it, and ended his contract about 6 months after we got engaged so now he doesn’t travel at all for work.

He has a few conferences a year. I travel monthly. Yes, we have a child. He goes to daycare and whoever is home when the other is traveling makes sure their schedule aligns to do drop off and pick up. I’m not sure what you mean about handling it. It just is what it is. We don’t have any trust issues.

My husband has traveled for work for many years. Like 7. It started out terrible to be honest. He was gone for like 8 weeks at a time....was unfaithful and drank a LOT. He’s been sober 4.5 years now and is only gone Monday-Friday. Our kids have grown up with this set up so they don’t seem to be effected. I mean I know they miss him, so we just spend a lot of time together on the weekends when he’s home! No trust issues now 🙂
