Can you have a period and still be pregnant?!?

Hello ladies, Im very curious to hear your thoughts, knowledge and experiences. 
Everything I’ve read says its medically impossible to have an actual period and still be pregnant. Yet I have met women who say they have in fact had a period then found out they were pregnant. My own mother being one of them. She claims she had a period with both my siblings. So Im curious to hear if any of you have experienced this? And if so, was it a normal period or just spotting? And did you have cramps and other period related symptoms like bloating ect.??

Implantation bleeding or early pregnancy bleeding can easily be mistaken for a period. 
But to be very clear, by definition, a period is the shedding of or uterine lining. You ovulate, the egg isn’t fertilized, which means the “padding” in your uterus is not needed so it sheds away and a new cycle begins. 
If you start shedding your lining during a pregnancy, that’s going to be a miscarriage. 
It is possible to have some bleeding through pregnancy for different reasons, but no. It’s is not possible to have a period while pregnant.

I havent had this happen, but I know it's possible. I've heard of women not only having a period but periods through their whole pregnancy and never knowing.

I don't think it's technically a period tbh. Does it still come each month?
