Just sort of venting and hoping to see other parents’ views on this kind of situation!

So I am getting a job interview soon sort of. A job that sounds very good, a state job position in the court. It all sounds so great and I know would be a great opportunity!

The thing is the man I spoke to gave me things to think about, mostly one big thing to think about. He told me to think about creating a support system, if I were to put my JB and 4 year old in daycare and they were to close because of COVID, how would I take care of that if I was to get the job? That’s a reality that I did not think of because I have gotten so comfortable being a stay at home mom. I have family that live both with me and near me. BUT they all work!

I had a bad experience with my son at a previous daycare before especially when he had a big speech delay at 2. The current pre school he’s in is great and he can talk so much more now so I am comfortable that he can tell me everything. I feel (my own mom instinct) that my JB is too attached to me and too young to go to a daycare. Maybe because of my son’s previous experience I am not trusting of anyone else but my MIL, mom, sister and SIL. I have cousins who I also trust but they work and go to school. I understand everyone has their life to deal with and it is my responsibility to see that my children are cared for. Should I just respectfully decline the job interview? Will I have another opportunity in a few years from now when my children are going to school?

So many things to think about. I know many parents here work and work hard to support their families and I am so glad they have a care support system for their babies. Maybe I’m a little bit intimidated into going back to the work field. But me, myself, I feel that right now I really should put my children before me. They will always be my priority no matter what but maybe right now I will sacrifice my career life and watch my babies grow a little longer. I feel in my gut that this will not be my only opportunity for a good job. Fingers crossed!
