Should I be concerned?

I have a 18 month old boy who does say his words but won’t try to say new things even when teaching him I have a friend who has a little girl who is 1 month younger and already says nice to meet you so I feel extremely worried as if I failed him even though I’m trying I’ve also been told girls tend to learn so much quicker and speak so much faster than little boys

I don’t like this thought process. My kid was speech delayed (and still is at age three). And I don’t feel like I failed her at all. Some kids just learn at their own pace and some kids have learning disabilities. As long as you’re doing everything you can then there’s no need to feel guilty and “failing” your kid. 
And I wouldn’t compare your kid to others. Some kids are just waaay ahead of the game.

I would bring it up to the pedi but also remember every kid progresses at their own pace , I’m sure he is fine , but always more comforting  to talk to a professional . Good luck mama ♥️

My daughter is 16 months and doesnt say anything yet. You havent failed him in anyway. Every toddler is different. If you are concerned talk to his pediatrician and see what they think.
