Favorite educational toys?

Recommendations for toys that develop some kind of skill, or teach language, counting, etc? Thanks!

My som loves books so anything that has to do with books grabs his attention .

We do the Lovevery subscription and find it well worth it. A lot of physics involved in their toys, and imaginary play with others.
Mega blocks - can name colors and count as you build (and he will crash.) 
Farm/farm animals are good at this age. We got a Fisher Price one on sale and he adores it. 
Books with actual photos of other babies and small children / actual photographs of items are very important and interesting to them. I have a list of you need. These are great opportunities for language and introduction to colors/shapes/counting.
Melissa and Doug make cool series of “poke a dot” books; reminiscent of popping bubble wrap, but child safe and that is great for fine motor skills development. 
Talk about what you’re doing aloud, count out as you go...that will do soooo much for their thirsty brains. Have him help where reasonable, it’s going to take longer, but they love it so much.
