Ladies with short to medium hair...I need your help!

I've always had hair below my shoulders. I've never had it cut above my shoulders. However I'm looking for a change and I'm going to be getting it cut to about shoulder length or just shorter tomorrow. Also with layers. I've attached an example picture, it will be similar to this. I have an 11 month old who loves to pull my hair and I also like pulling it back when I do dishes, give him a bath, fold laundry, or do anything where I have to look down a lot and use both hands. Right now with longer hair and very few layers I pull it into a low ponytail with a scrunchy that never leaves my wrist lol. How do I do that with shorter hair? If I have some layers that don't fit into a ponytail, how do I get it out of my face? Especially really quickly and briefly. I can do things like french braids and stuff but I'm more looking for something fast and temporary, I'm not huge on styling my hair every morning. A head band? Help. 😂
