How to cover brown discoloration?

Hey ladies,

So a couple years ago I had a lip wax go wrong and my skin is damaged as a result. It is slightly darker than my natural tone and to me makes it look like I have a mustache or dark hair when there isn't any. Im trying to experiment more with makeup because it makes me self conscious. What is a good concealer color or foundation? I'm white and have a pretty pale complexion. Not necessarily porcelain or ivory but maybe a step up to light beige. I know nothing about makeup. Help!!!
