Telling your mom?

How long did you guys wait to tell your mom? My mom is my best friend and not telling her is eating me alive! I’m trying my hardest to not tell her until I go to my first appointment/ultrasound to make sure baby is all good but it gets harder every day! I’m only 4.5 so still have almost a month! Also, how did you guys tell your parents?

I’m 5 weeks and I haven’t told my mom either just because I know she’ll call the whole family and tell them I can’t trust her to keep this secret she didn’t keep it the first time

I was going to wait to tell my mom too then I was reading another post similar to this and someone was talking about how they had lost their mom and they wished they had the chance to tell her. She said, If you can, you tell your mom as soon as you can because not everyone has that chance. Changed my perspective a lot and we told my parents before we were even 4 weeks!

I told my husband, my sisters and my mom as soon as I saw a second line on the test. I knew I could trust them to keep my secret and they are the people I am going to want to lean on if anything happens.

22-23 weeks when we told everyone else. No one knew before anyone else. We announced to every family/friend same time.

This is so my problem right now too! I’m 6 weeks today and my appointment is Tuesday. My mom lives in a different state and is coming to visit next Thursday so I am waiting to tell her in person but the wait is killing me because with my first, I told her as soon as I found out. We’re just going to have my daughter wear a “big sister” shirt and have the ultrasound picture ready for her as soon as she gets here. I CANNOT WAIT! We’re waiting until at least the first ultrasound. Both sides of the family enjoy gossip and spreading other peoples news, good or bad. And we don’t want the whole family finding out through the grapevine.

We just told my family this afternoon, after a positive test on Thursday. They can keep a secret and are definitely our support system in any scenario. We said we were going to take a group photo and set it to video instead, and then said "On the count of three, everyone say 'Allison is pregnant!'" It was fun to capture their reactions :)

With my first I was so scared of anything going wrong since we tried for 3 years. My mom had also suffered several losses and I know now it hurts her still so we didn’t tell any of our parents until 12 weeks, it was so bloody hard!!
I’m torn this time as we just found out I’m 4w5d if we will hold out until Christmas and surprise all the grandparents at once at 13w, or if I’ll cave earlier this time and tell them around my birthday (nov 24) which is 9w.

I told my mom the night I found out with my daughter and two days after I found out I was pregnant this time (and only because she was away and I didn’t want to do it on the phone lol or would have been the same day).  I put my daughter in a sister shirt and that’s how I told my mom.
She’s your mom, she will support you in your pregnancy and excitement, and if sadly your pregnancy wasn’t viable- she would support you in that as well.  My philosophy is I tell the people I would share the grief with if I had to.
