How often to feed?

How long should babies be eating every 3ish hours? Ebf
Editing to reword this. Like how long do they need to eat every three hours? When can I make that every 4 hours or more?

Once baby is back up to birth weight, if there are no health issues, then just make it easy and feed on demand :)  sometimes they’ll go 5 hours between feeds and sometimes 15 minutes 🤣

Depends on baby. I feed on demand which is every 1-2 hours for my 5 month old

Sorry for the confusion! I meant how many hours between feeds 😆 I still feed on demand, but i wake him from his nap if he’s sleeping past the 3 hrs between feed mark so he’ll eat. Wondering if I should let him nap longer and space it feeds more or if that will screw up his nighttime sleep. Only way to tell for sure is to try, but oh man... I do not want to mess up nights!

Definitely depends on age. As a newborn my son nursed every two hrs. So like if he started nursing at 8am next feeding was at 10am how long they nurse is totally dependent on each individual baby and mom. I had lots of milk and a strong flow my son would nurse between 5-15 mins and get eveything he needed. Let baby nurse until they are finished you cant over feed a breast baby. Also if baby is old enough you’re considering spacing feedings more just follow your babies cues they give signs when they are hungry. I watched for those and if my baby wanted to nurse more then once in the two hrs then I allowed that.
