First ultrasound with my doctors office! Midwife or doctor?

Question

I had my confirmation of pregnancy and first appointment yesterday (with my doc I did get an early sono @ 6 weeks from a birthing center) I’m a earlier than we originally thought, 8w2d but, looks like I’m 7w6d today so June 5th due date! But, everything looked great HB 155BPM and I’m already so in love with my little shrimp. My doc didn’t do any blood work and said we would at our next appointment at 12 weeks. Is this normal? Also have any of you gone or considered the midwife/doula route? I am interested in birthing in a hospital but utilizing midwives instead of a doctor. What are the pros/cons you have found?

After two OB doctor births in a hospital, I will NEVER go to an OB or give birth in a hospital again. Midwife and birth center All🙌🏼The🙌🏼Way🙌🏼
They just care way more and take things like nutrition and exercise and supplements seriously for your pregnancy, in my experience at least

I’m currently in contact with a midwife for my second. I didn’t have an awful hospital experience but i never had any type of connection with my OB. I wasn’t really comfortable with them. Ive only had one convo with the midwife so far and I already love her haha

I had a midwife with my first and delivered in a hospital. She was amazing! She knew I wanted to go as unmedicated as I could but was very open to an epidural if I needed it. After 6+ hours of labor at 6cm and not increasing she suggested the epidural and to let my body rest because I was so exhausted from pre and active labor. I was so thankful she suggested it and once my body was able to rest I was finally progressing. Even during pushing she recognized both me and the baby were starting to feel defeated and baby’s heart rate started dropping because I had been pushing for an hour. She suggested an episiotomy and the baby would be out on the next push. Which I opted for. So although midwives practice less intervention they were also very open to intervention when it’s needed! It was a great experience!

I used a midwife with my first pregnancy and loved it because I wanted the non medicated route and I’m going to use midwives again for my second m. With my first I almost had to get a csection when my daughter was breeched and would have had to switch to the gynos but luckily she turned I also am with a group that has Obgyn’s and midwives so it helps they are all in the same group

Yes I used midwives, and gave birth in a hospital. When it comes to medical interventions "less is best" ;)
