Mother-in-law Moving In

Hey guys!

I’m just wondering if anyone had their mother, mother-in-law or any other relative move in for a bit after the birth of their baby? Some backstory: my partner works in a different province for 3 weeks at a time and where we live I haven’t made many close friend connections. He would really like his mom to come and stay with us, which I’m completely ok with, and welcome.

Today he asked what role I thought his mom should play, after he spoke with her and she asked. She will be coming from yet another province, which is why she would be staying with us to help with the baby. My parents live nearby, but I don’t always get along with my mother.

Any tips, or advice? Did you set ground rules, or boundaries with them before they moved in? Did you say for a certain amount of time or just until you decided you were ok on your own?
